RESEARCH PROJECT
How can natural elements be used to relieve stress of city living?
The Fika Project is inspired by the Swedish tradition of the coffee break, known as “Fika” as a possible method of reducing stress among urban dwellers. It seeks to embody contentment and moderation. Fika is based on taking time out of one’s day to slow down and refresh in the company of friends and/or family.
The Fika venues are intended to be small hubs built utilising existing structures in urban areas, specifically in business districts, where natural elements are incorporated into the designed space. These hubs primarily consist of a small coffee station among a garden setting equipped with comfortable seating, creating an escape within the city.
